PATIENT'S EDUCATION

Your First Visit

You will see a very recognizable excitement surrounding each and every member of staff upon        meeting new patients. You can provide with great assistance in knowing you better even before you reach us for the first time by filling up medical health questionnaire and patient needs self assessment and expectation Questionnaire.

Your first visit is about 45 minutes long and it will include taking some orthodontic records for you such as digital photography, x-rays and alginate impressions.

During the initial examination for each patient:

·  We will assess in details your facial and dental proportions, dental health, dental alignment as well as your dental occlusion.

·  The findings will be documented in details.

·  This exercise will be concluded with setting your problem list, treatment objectives.

· Options available to achieve these objectives will be discussed as well as various technologies that suit your case.

· Advantages and disadvantages of each option will be highlighted.

· You are encouraged to comment and ask about unclear information.

·         The cost of each option as well as available financial packages would be available in this visit.

Ideal Age

One of the most common question that parents ask; what is the most ideal age to start braces and the answer that there is no universal ideal age. Although with new technology such as Damon System it will be ideal to start at late mixed dentition (10-12 years old), however in specific cases such sever crowding, it might be better to start little earlier to do regain space to sort out crowding (Degainer Technology).

Also with the new technology, it never late to do braces as more and more adult patients percentage in increasing in our practice getting successful result with a conclusion of fantastic smiles.

I recommend a routine orthodontic screening of all children at age 7-9 years to:

· Assess availability of all teeth (no missing or extra teeth).

· Make sure all teeth in the right place.

· Exclude any tendency for impaction.

· Check the health of teeth and gum.

· Assess whether there is an immediate need for braces or only periodic follow up needed. 

These protocols conform perfectly with the current guidelines of the American Association of Orthodontics, in which early treatment in specific cases is a valuable asset to:

· Improve your child appearance and self –esteem and provide him/her with successful psychosocial relation at school and social surroundings.

· Minimize need for extraction and surgery in future treatment,

·  Helping correcting deep bite, open bite and cross bite in a much easier fashion.

· Shortening, reduce complexity and /or improving the result of second face of treatment (Full Braces Phase).
